Exclusive Shore Event: Santa Cruz de Tenerife | Tenerife, Heart of the Canary Islands
Our day in gorgeous Tenerife begins with a drive to San Cristbal de La Laguna, the island's former capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is divided into two sections: the original, unplanned Upper Town; and the grid-designed Lower Town that became a model of urban planning for Spanish colonies across the Americas. Take a guided walk past its elegant buildings and colorful houses built between the 15th and 17th centuries; stop at Real Santuario del Cristo, a Franciscan monastery that houses the Canary Islands' most important religious icon, Cristo de la Laguna.
Reboard the coach and return to Santa Cruz de Tenerife for a guided tour of the historic quarter. Stroll past its many pleasant plazas, La Concepcin Church with its striking bell tower, La Recova marketplace, and Garca Sanabria Park. Stop to view the remains of the 16th-century fortress castle before transferring to Bodegas Monje, a family-owned winery offering incredible views of Teide National Park and the sea - the perfect setting for our tasting menu lunch, paired with local wines.
Approximate Length: 6 hours, 30 minutes
Suggested Attire/Walking Notes: Casual attire with comfortable walking shoes. Walking tour is approximately 2 hours with some steps and inclines.
PLEASE NOTE: All Virtuoso events ashore are capacity controlled and require a minimum number of participants to operate. Events are subject to change without notice. Your event could be different than what is noted here; but it will be designed to be memorable and to bring you a traveler's view that you will treasure, and would otherwise miss entirely.
