Exclusive Shore Event: Puerto Montt | Frutillar and Santa Ines Ranch with a BBQ Lunch
After a quick shopping visit, our coach continues to Frutillar, where we will take a brief orientation walk and will have the opportunity to take a photograph across the waters of the Llanquihue Lake to one of the regions icons; the mighty Osorno Volcano.
Frutillar is one of Chile's most charming towns, not only because of its privileged lakeside location, but also because of its quaint, German-influenced architecture, and its friendly, laid-back atmosphere. The city was built by the sweat and tenacity of German immigrants in the mid-19th century and the striking Chilean scenery rivals even the Alps.
We will visit the Lake Theatre in Frutillar, the town's most preeminent landmark. The original project to build Teatro del Lago was designed by the architects Gerardo Kster and Gustavo Greene, who supervised its structural work for 10 years. In 2008, the company Amercanda, led by architect Bernd Haller, took over the project in its construction phase, with the challenge of creating its external and internal design and terminations inspired in the traditional German architecture that predominates in the region. The building faade is covered in wood on Bakelite, in an aesthetic way and in the typical colors of the area. The roof is made of copper, representing Chile's mining industry.
After this amazing visit our trip will take us to the Santa Ines Ranch in one of the most amazing landscapes in the south of Chile; a charming place due its extremely beautiful environment. The massive ranch is roughly 300 hs and snakes along the Maulln River's shore flanked by the secluded local rainforest. Few such elements of nature and tranquility in the world can compare. Santa Inés Ranch is focused to cattle breeding, and its land is perfect for horse riding or trekking along the path in the native forest. The three large lagoons on the property are a fisherman's paradise, and are also a splendid place for outdoor activities and relaxation.
Before enjoying our delicious lunch, a Pisco Sour welcome cocktail will be served along with crispy sopaipillas with Chilean pebre, a distinctive treat of the country's palatable cuisine. We will have the chance to learn about the country's distinctive agriculture industry, along with how the whole meal country bread is made with natural yeast. The main course is a typical barbecue of Patagonian lamb, grilled slowly for hours on stakes around the fire. There will of course be no shortage of phenomenal Chilean red wine and soft drinks to accompany the luncheon.
With a satisfied appetite, we will board the coach and continue to the port of Puerto Montt to join the ship.
Approximate Length: Seven hours, 30 minutes
Suggested Attire/Walking Notes: Smart, comfortable casual wear is recommended. There will be moderate walking through Angelmo Handicraft Market and the town of Frutillar on paved surfaces, and some unpaved surfaces at Santa Ines Ranch.
