Exclusive Shore Event: Castries | Island Sights & Festive Lunch
St. Lucia is the sort of island that travelers to the Caribbean dream about; a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located midway through the Eastern Caribbean chain between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. Only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, its shape is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado.
Our day begins with a drive through the capital city of Castries and upwards to historic and scenic Morne Fortune. As we wind our way along, we will be able to catch a glimpse of the many banana and coconut plantations, rich tropical vegetation and the edge of the rainforest. We will also pass by picturesque fishing villages before coming into Soufriere, home of the majestic Pitons. The Pitons are the most distinctive twin peaks in the Caribbean and are a true symbol of St. Lucia. We'll marvel at this amazing creation of Mother Nature, and then make our way to the Sulphur Springs in the world's only "drive in volcano". Gazing out from our coach, we will see its bubbly, steamy springs, a one of a kind phenomenon. After our island tour, it's off to our wonderful luncheon!
Sumptuous island specialties complimented by wine await us at Dasheene Restaurant in the world renowned Ladera Resort. A favorite haunt of Oprah Winfrey, we will dine seemingly nestled between heaven and the majestic pitons, the perfect way to end our day in this Caribbean paradise.
