Exclusive Shore Event: Halifax | Annapolis Valley Bounty

Along the shore of the Bay of Fundy-home of the world's highest tides-tucked between two parallel mountains, is Nova Scotia's fertile Annapolis Valley, an agricultural cornucopia of outstanding natural beauty. A scenic, hour-long drive from our port in Halifax, the valley is also the heart of the Acadian homeland, which we'll discover at the Grand Pré National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage. In 1755, with their loyalty in doubt, the Acadian settlers were forcibly deported by the English; many eventually ended up in Louisiana, giving rise to the state's distinctive Cajun population. While the rolling green grounds are beautiful to explore, the site also provides a nuanced historical perspective on Acadian and Canadian history.
We will proceed next to the Lightfoot and Wolfville Vineyards, with rolling acres of grapevines backed by stunning views of Cape Blomidon. In the newly built, modern-barn-style facility, we'll discover the unique terroir of the Annapolis Valley, the northern-style grapes thriving in the area's microclimate, and the organic and biodynamic production methods in use at the property. We'll taste several vintages, and conclude our day with a three-course "best of the season" lunch with perfectly paired wines.

Approximate Length: 6 hours, 30 minutes

Suggested Attire/Walking Notes: Casual attire with comfortable walking shoes. Walking surfaces at both Grand Pré National Historic Site and the vineyard will be uneven gravel and grassy surfaces. Distances walked are dependent upon the guest but could include up to two hours of walking.

PLEASE NOTE: All Virtuoso events ashore are capacity controlled and require a minimum number of participants to operate. Events are subject to change without notice. These events are individually tailored for each date and arrival. Your event could be different than what is noted here; but it will be designed to be memorable and to bring you a traveler's view that you will treasure, and would otherwise miss entirely. Final details will be outlined in program letters provided by your Virtuoso host aboard ship.
