Exclusive Shore Event: Monte-Carlo | More to Monaco
A sovereign nation nestled along the Mediterranean, most of us know Monaco for its 700-year-strong Grimaldi dynasty, the swanky resort capital of Monte Carlo, and its general reputation for high-rolling revelry. But the principality is both greener and more scientifically relevant than you might think.
We'll begin our day at the Exotic Garden of Monaco, first opened to the public in 1933. It is the world's largest collection of succulents and cacti, thriving on a rocky slope overlooking the sea. Often bypassed by visitors, this beautiful spot offers great views, and, sometimes, dazzling bright blooms. We'll then transfer to the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, founded by Prince Albert I in 1901. Through the collections, most of which are from local excavations, we'll get a look at life on the Côte d'Azur some one million years ago.
We'll continue to lunch at A'Trego, a stunning and modern restaurant right on the water, to enjoy local specialties and an amazing view. We'll finish our day at Villa Paloma, one of Monaco's finest patrician residences. The Villa and its gardens (originally plotted by famed garden designer Octave Godard) are now part of the National Museum. We'll explore the immaculately restored property, its exhibits, and the grounds before returning to ship.
