Exclusive Shore Event: Helsinki | City Highlights, Porvoo and Lunch at a VillaHelsinki is a modern European cultural city whose urban cosmopolitan lifestyle exists in perfect harmony with nature. Surrounded by the sea and its own exotic archipelago, Helsinki offers visitors an endless number of possibilities. Throughout its 450-year history, Helsinki has existed in the crosscurrents of the East and West. The colorful layers of history can be seen everywhere. Today's Helsinki is also a city of the future. Its modern architecture, cutting-edge design and high-technology have attracted international recognition for the city. Unique lifestyles and urban subcultures are all a part of this international metropolis.
Our day begins with a drive from the harbor to historic Senate Square, built in neo-classic style after Helsinki became the capital of Finland in 1812. From here we will also pass the New Opera House, the Olympic Stadium, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum, the Parliament House and the Contemporary Art Museum -Kiasma that opened in 1998 and designed by American architect Steven Holl.We will then make our way to the medieval town of Porvoo for a walking sightseeing tour. Porvoo is the second oldest town in Finland dating back to 1346. For centuries, the city has served as both a home and a source of inspiration for many Finnish artists. We will walk the cobblestone streets of this charming old wooden town with time to also explore on your own before moving on to our wonderful luncheon venue.
After a short drive we arrive at an exclusive summer villa in the Porvoo Archipelago for our lunch. The villa overlooks the sea with breathtaking views of the beautiful Finnish Archipelago and a delicious traditional lunch will be enjoyed here.
After lunch, enjoy your time at the villa, sit on the rocks, enjoy the silence and breathe in the fresh sea air. On the way back to Helsinki, we will stop at the Rock Church, carved out of solid rock and topped with a copper dome before our return to the pier.
Approximate Length: Seven hours, 30 minutes
