Exclusive Shore Event: Wellington | Wowed by Wellington

New Zealand's capital city is an eminently accessible, friendly spot, dramatically set between the harbor and forested hills. Discover its many charms on a morning sightseeing tour, driving up Mount Victoria to soak in the panoramic skyline and its iconic buildings such as Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand's national museum. Travel onward past Lambton Quay - Wellington's main shopping precinct - the Parliament Buildings, including its famous "Beehive" executive wing; and Old St. Paul's Cathedral, one of the country's oldest wooden churches. Arriving at Logan Brown restaurant, consistently ranked among the city's finest, we sip welcome bubbles before a lunch of contemporary Kiwi fare.

Then continue to Otari-Wilton's Bush, the only botanic gardens dedicated to the cultivation of New Zealand's unique flora; among its 1,200 species are some of Wellington's oldest trees, including an 800-year-old rimu. The treetops are home to a variety of wildlife, which you can spy from along the canopy walkway located 60 feet above the forest floor.

Length: 5 hours, 30 minutes

Suggested Attire/Walking Notes: Smart-casual attire with comfortable walking shoes. Total walking distance at Otari-Wilton's Bush is approximately .3 mile, including the 250-foot-long canopy walkway.

PLEASE NOTE: All Virtuoso events ashore are capacity controlled and require a minimum number of participants to operate. Events are subject to change without notice. These events are individually tailored for each date and arrival. Your event could be different than what is noted here; but it will be designed to be memorable and to bring you a traveler's view that you will treasure, and would otherwise miss entirely. Final details will be outlined in program letters provided by your Virtuoso host aboard ship.
